Test

Has God got it in for me, he’s testing me severely.

Why is it always maybe might not quite very nearly?

Okay, I press on, slain dragons at my feet.

Another rears his ugly head, more foes to defeat.

Take nothing for granted, there is no easy way.

A few helpful faithful friends cheer me up each day.

Alright, I won’t blame God, we’re on each other’s side.

A poem now and then may help to turn the tide.

Tragedy

Then I died.

People cried.

They wept and rent their clothes.

This could happen, I suppose.

At least my debtors, if not my betters.

I look forward to the end, there’s nothing else to do.

Do you?

Salutation

Things are not always as they seem

The Broken Specs

It was the first time I saw her speaking with someone. She was on the other side of the library hall with one of my friend. They shared a laughter as I approach there, and it appeared like they enjoyed their moment. I greeted my friend and said “Hi” to the Miss. I realized that I will get late to catch the bus so I gave a quick hug to my friend and said goodbye to the Miss. 🙂

The next day, I was sitting on a couch in the corridor, waiting for my next class. There she came, walking in my direction. Her class was next to my class, so she sits and waits. “Hi” I greeted her. She said nothing. :/ Maybe she didn’t hear it. I stood up and moved to my class as my professor entered the classroom. 🤓

I didn’t really know, “If she heard and ignored me, or didn’t she heard my salutation?”…

“Collect Moments Not Things”

I like your stuff

The Broken Specs

Things.. Things like teddy bears, roses, chocolates and pretty much every cute item will be advertised, and while it’s great that there are so many options to choose from to show how much you love and appreciate someone.

A spontaneous trip with loved ones, a romantic picnic, are all ways in which you can seize the moment and tell them just how much they mean to you.

Take time to enjoy life and create memories that you can be happy with. Collecting moments and not things means enjoying what you have and who you have in your life.

And remember,
People were created to be loved. Things were created to be used. The reason the world is in chaos is because things are being loved and people are being used.

While you are alive collect moments not things, earn respect not money and enjoy love not luxuries.. 🙂

Rant 2

Good news and bad news and mediocre news. It’s as bad as I feared, though not without saving graces. The human species that is.

I rang Sean Olohan of the cd shop in Wicklow town. He will stock my cd, of which he has one copy.   He has played it. That is the not so bad news.

He said it won’t sell. I would need to record it in a recording studio. He recorded his cd in a recording studio and it did not sell.

Do I detect a non sequitur there? An illogicality?   So recording a cd in a recording studio is a panacea, but does not work, sounds like a placebo to me.   Okay, so much for big words, not to speak of Latin.

Buddy Holly long ago recorded in his hotel room on a tape recorder and those recordings were hits after his death, with backing tracks added.   In the modern age people in the U.K. have recorded at home on a computer and had hits.   A recording studio is nothing to do with it and never was.

Good or great songs, a good or great singer, and timing, timing, timing, these are what sell recordings. My cd, Great Irish Songs, is just what it says on the tin, some Scottish or otherwise, so what, all great songs.

As I said to Sean I have sold this cd, yes, for money, not to relatives, and the feedback is very positive, some quoted on the cd cover, more positive reviews today. Ordinary people like it and ordinary people are in the majority. Let’s not be narrowminded.

Sean will have the cd in his shop and does not want any money out of it if it sells. Good news. He agreed with me on some points, my cd is full, most are half empty. My asking price is ten euros, he sells cd’s for less than that, reissues, mine is original and new cd’s in his shop, single cd’s, can cost twenty euros.   My cd is new and old at the same time.   Old songs, never all collected together before, and brand new this year. A paradox? Not when you think about it.

I plan a YouTube channel devoted to my singing cd. It is designed on paper. That is half the battle.

Moon

Not a moment too soon man went to the Moon.

Not a woman to be seen, not even the queen.

A golf game was played, that’s why man was made.

No burgers or cola and no pianola.

Finally he returned to Earth which gave him birth.

He had a story to tell, people said oh well.

A Simple Man’s Prayer

Oh God, are you there?

It’s me on the line.

Turn water into wine.

But not all, we need a shower now and then.

I’ve been waiting for you since I don’t know when.

Some say you don’t exist, I know the feeling.

Wounds need healing.

If you’re busy another time will do.

So far I’ve left it up to you.

Will I do?

Sony Letter 2

This is to Sony and anyone else who is listening.  If you sell music this is for you.

Sony Ireland

Barry,

I am Tich Ennis aged 76 with a YouTube channel and blog of that name.  I’m a new kid on the block.
Here are 3 of 37 songs I have recorded, test marketed on locals of various nationalities who all say they love it and them.
So you want this:

What are you looking for in a demo?
Great songs, talent, originality, quality and a great performance all help, but basically something which makes what you’re doing stand out from what everyone else is doing.

I hope I fill the bill on all counts.
Michael Jackson is dead, don’t miss out.
I sent a full cd to you the other week, okay here are 3 for those with short attention spans.
It’s a Long Way To Tipperary.
Phil the Fluter’s Ball.
Brahm’s Lullaby, Irish version.
Okay so, if you don’t take it and me on I’ll have to do it myself.
Then, as Connie Francis sang, Who’s Sorry Now?
My contact details:

Reality,

Ireland is not dead but sleepeth.  Sure you know yourself,

Yes, I do stand out and so do all these songs.  This is the real thing.  Accept no substitute.  Get with it.  Grab me while you still can. Everyone loves these songs and I have 37 of them.  They were never all put together before.  What are you waiting for? Tich

CD Sales

I have sold a cd, sight and sound unseen. My brother sold three, although he gave away more. I have yet to package the cd I sold, I said I will be back within the hour. She didn’t even ask the price! I told her I made a cd, me singing Irish songs. You, she said, with a look of amazement on her face. She serves me coffee at the delicatessen, where the sale took place.

John McCormack will be turning in his grave when he hears me doing a better job than him. At seventy-eight revolutions per minute.

An Irishman living in Australia is to hear my cd, bought by his brother from my brother. Is that complicated? And the Irish brother living here has yet to hear it himself. Some people have great faith.

A young man of my acquaintance who wanted to be an actor but decided against it because he doesn’t want to be famous is to show my cd to a friend of his who has a cd shop in Gorey to see will he sell it.   The gory details. Anyway, he has thought again and is going back into acting. I said if he becomes famous first to put in a word for me.

A shop in Wicklow town may put my cd on sale. Its owner is probably in Portugal even as I write and will be home on Monday. My brother gave him my cd, Great Irish Songs, last weekend. I never met him, I spoke to him on the phone. He sounds friendly.   He gave us a cd he made of some Irish musicians playing and singing.   The sort of thing tourists might buy.

I texted him, Sean Olohan, on the plane, saying I hope for a rave review.

Okay, Beat That here in Arklow will take my cd. James, the owner, who says he runs the shop as both a hobby and a business, prefers singing with musical accompaniment. He is not everyone. You can’t have everything, so I have heard said.

So, four sales to date. And counting. No call back from Sony Records, the monolithic multinational inventor of the Walkman, superseded by its digital replacement.

So, that’s about the size of it. Who says nothing ever happens? Not me.   I could say something philosophical, but I’m not in the mood. Glenn Miller said and played it better. In The Mood, his signature tune.

Look out Elvis, here I come!

Heck

I’m not very good at being good, heck look at me with smoking.

If I said I would give them up was I only joking?

I can’t afford them, certainly not, I owe money, quite a lot.

Apart from that what are my sins?

I cannot say, the list begins.

I’m more or less okay I think, I sometimes wash the kitchen sink.

I have various character flaws, I was born with them, I once saw Jaws.

I very rarely ever budge.

Others, you are not my judge.
